Racing is, has and always will be the heartbeat of GS Mossa.
When Covid hit in March 2020, almost all social riding and racing for the year was cancelled. For many of us, that meant a blank race calendar and a whole lot of winter fitness not being put to good use.
GS Mossa 2021 a year to remember
The club enjoyed prime conditions at the local XC Brass Monkeys race hosted by Gorrick.
British National 25 mile Time Trial Championships by Jamie Parkinson
Mountbatten is a circuit I always love to race at. Mountbatten is where I began to cycle as a youth at the Portsmouth School of Cycling Racing sessions on Friday evenings, run by local legend Guy Watson. It is also where I completed in my first British Cycling race back in 2013!

The 2021 season has been successful for me so far! Following a late start due to Covid-19, I got stuck into time trialling at the first opportunity.

The second annual ‘Bangers & Mash’ saw our off-roaders battle it out in a high octane pairs relay which, as usual, turned out to be very competitive.

Together with local coach, Pickup Sports Coaching, we now run a weekly women’s ride that is open to all female cyclists. The idea is to provide a platform for women to experience structured sessions, increase confidence in bunch cycling and holding a wheel, plus, increase social connections with likeminded people. The sessions run on Thursday evenings, setting off from Frimley Green and taking in a variety of loops around the Pirbright area. To join the ride, please direct message us on Facebook or Instagram. Or send us an email (info@gsmossa.com).
Racing on the open road is where GS Mossa really comes alive
Racing is, has and always will be the heartbeat of GS Mossa. The 2022 road racing season, so far, has been no different. With several Mossa racing full gas from the gun since February and 12 team-mates on the start-list for a recent Handicap Race at Goodwood, the Mossa race train truly has left the station.

A look back at our year that was 2021
Race atmosphere was back to pre-COVID levels
This year, I have well and truly caught the time trial bug. I acquired my first TT bike at the tail end of last year with the aim of supplementing my sustained power for road racing and it’s been above and beyond all expectations since then. The odd Club TT led to a few Open TTs, which led to numerous tweaks to chase Personal Best times, which led to an aero obsession and all culminated in the British National 25 mile Championship in Keswick, The Lake District.
A big thank you to my teammates, it is genuinely fantastic racing with you all and I am loving every single minute of it this season!

I entered this time trial with one goal; beat the course record set by former multiple World Champion Rob Hayles. The time to beat was 57 minutes and 11 seconds
GS MOSSA has demonstrated that collective passion for all things cycling can lead to powerful outcomes. Moved by the news of Martin from Nieuw Bos Cycling Club, GS MOSSA members cycled in his memory around the lanes he loved in the New Forest. Martin tragically died by suicide in 2020.
